| If you have a high value of personal possessions that you want to cover away from your home, then you may find you need a specialist household contents insurance policy.
Most household contents insurance policies do not include cover for personal possessions away from the home as standard, and it is usually an optional extra on your policy. This means that you will then be covered if you take your personal possessions, such as jewellery, laptops, sport equipment and cameras, outside of your home.
However most household contents insurance policies will have a maximum limit on how much personal possession cover they will allow. One large expensive piece of jewellery, for example, might take you over that maximum limit.
We do however have some specialist home insurers who will consider your application, if “high value of personal possessions” is the reason why you are struggling to find insurance.
We work with specialist household insurers to find an insurance policy for you.
What we need to know
Our specialists will need to know details of your personal possessions, and so it is helpful if you are able to have this information to hand.
In particular they will want to know details about:
- the type or make of the item
- a description of the item
- and its value
Our home insurance specialists will then use their expertise to hopefully find you some personal possessions insurance that meets your needs.
